Back to the old kampong days in Lorong Tai Seng in 1974, a few public spirited residents started a service to provide help to the needy.
The services were basic and appropriate during those days.

Cheng Hong Siang Tng was providing help to the poor, free medical cares, conduct funeral services and occasionally provide free burial services to the needy. The temple was very popular and had tremendous support from the villagers and people from other areas.
